IWC Ingenieur AMG (Titanium and non chrono): Pictorial

Stephane

Recommended Posts

Dear All,

Here is a pictorial of my trade with AJoeSmith.

It is cute story in my opinion.  :thumbsupsmileyanim:

About the deal

I ordered a 1665 GreatWhite MBW from TTK and suddenly decided to buy Kelster's one.

So, at the same moment, Joe asked me if I was willing to sell TTK's, which of course was the case.

In the meantime, still keeping an eye on Ingies, Joe proposed to trade his (with both TT bracelet and Kevlar strap) for the 1665.

Why not! The deal was done!

TTK sent the MBW to Joe. Joe sent me the Ingie. We both have our watch now.  :p

About the gen

Mechanical movement

Automatic Pellaton winding system

Power reserve of 44 hours when fully wound

Date display with crown-activated rapid calendar advance

Hour and minute hands

Central seconds hand with stop function

Screw-in crown

Soft iron inner case for protection against magnetic fields of up to 80,000 A/m

Sapphire glass antireflective on both sides

Water-resistant (120 m)

Screw-in back cover

IWC metal bracelet system with deployant clasp or with black soft strap with buckle

Price range from 5.200 to 5.800 / 7.000 $ to 7.800 $.

Here the IWC.com pics (they should ask TTK or Pug to send them good pictures btw  ):

About the rep

Positive points

There are very few flaws on this Ingie. If one like the light feeling of Titanium, it's a great watch.

Very sensitive to scratches though. I scratched it when opening it (should get myself something else than a shiti Jaxa).

Negative points

As usual : the date is of course misaligned. Note, mine is powered by an ETA 2824-2.

The hour, minute and second hands are very slightly shorter than the gen.

For the rest, I couldn't see any other ones yet. :brow:

Conclusion

Well, I've been looking at IWC lately and I'm happy to own both the 3717 and this Ingie Amg.

As I like the texture of the SS Ingie, I might get myself one too later.  :yeah:

Having said that, I'm not wearing this Amg so much but a friend of mine does, so at least it doesn't stay in a box.

Thanks for reading, and now here are the pics.

Cheers

Stephane

Really nice watch.....I never thought that IWC would really grow on me as a brand, but it indeed is beginning to.

I sold my Ingy recently to a fine member here. I loved the regular SS Ingy, but I LOVE titanium watches, so when the AMG Ti came out, I knew that it would displace the SS as my Ingy of choice. Not yet, as the Cousteau is ahead on the list....but it is a tremendous watch.

One issue I've got with the AMG Ti, is that I *believe* that it has a *light* AR coating, is that correct?

The nice thing about the SS one is that you can get the crystal AR'd, which is ABSOLUTELY NECESSARY for this watch..IMO it's MUCH more significant then the datewheel issue. My fear with the titanium version is that the ETA non-chrono has been said to have a light coating which would make doing the crystal right with an AR coating a much more labour intensive prospect.

Cheers to a nice watch and nice pics.

I'd never thought the strap could really justify taking off the beautiful band that IWC uses....but it really is a nice way to change up the look of the watch.

@Joe: thanks for your nice comment ! I'm sorry to hear about the great white though. Keep it for a while, it might grow on you with the time. GW is absolutely fantastic in my opinion.

@Mezza: it is my impression that there is a light AR. But I'm not 100% sure. Maybe some other member could jump in and tell us ?

Stephane,

I just bought this watch as a result of your pictures here, great review!!

One question - where did you get the Ti buckle for the nylon strap? I've only been able to find brushed Stainless Steel buckles everywhere I've looked. Thanks :)

Hi SubZero,

You made a good choice (if you get the nylon strap though).

The bracelet is too much Ti to my opinion.

I'm afraid I can't help for the buckle.

Everything came toghether in the pack from AjoeSmith...

Pm him maybe he can tell you.

Cheers

Stephane

I notice now in person that the AMG I have has a difference in the color and texture of the case and the bracelet. The bracelet is a little darker and smoother and more shiny than the watch head. From your pics it looks like your's is similar, but it's hard to tell. Do you notice the same thing with yours in person?
