Asian Omega GMT

Recommended Posts

Just purchased a black asian Omega GMT (2005 edition- fantasy watch) from a member who originally purchased it from Andrew. Here's Andrew's link of the watch:

Great looking watch. However, the date wheel is white with black numerals, whereas the gen Black Omegas' datewheel is black with white numerals.

I have an extra 2824 black date wheel. So my question is - will a 2824 datewheel fit on an asian movement?

This watch is wrong for a whole load of other reasons, so the least thing I'd be worried about is the datewheel.

It's just a matter of personal preference I suppose, but the dial design this watch carries is normally accompanied by a white datewheel regardless of colour so I'd be inclined to leave it as is, although the date font on this particular rep is incorrect (open 6's and 9's).

The 2824 black datewheel should fit with no problem though!

PS. How's the 'look and feel' of the watch otherwise? I've got my eye on the blue face/bezel version of this.

Right - not trying to make the watch look like the gen since Omega didn't make a black version. I do have the older GMT model, black dial with the black datewheel. I just wanted my new GMT to be at least consistant with the way Omega has their black dials with the black datewheels.

Great. I have an extra datewheel, so I figure why not use it, right? :D

The look is awesome - not that much lume on the dial, but more on the hands. The watch came with a black padded leather band, which makes the watch "look" alot better than if it came with the stainless steel band.

I will try to post some pics up later, hopefully tonight.

I have the same problem with the date wheel.

What does that datewheel cost? ( and where to get? )

Does it take a lot of skills/tools to change it?

I've replied to your post in the Photo Gallery section. If I were you Space I'd be wanting recourse for your watch being different from the one the dealer was advertising before considering doing the datewheel exchange yourself!!

I have come to an agreement with the dealer. It does not include a black date wheel as the factories apparently have stoped making the GMT with black datewheel because of some sort of problem.

So my question stands.

I still need a black datewheel that will fit my current GMT.

I would hope Andrew would update the pics on his site or state that the watch being sold does not match the watch pictured on his site - just my 2 cents.

Space - I have an extra black datewheel that fits a 2824 movement. From what I heard from others on the board, the datewheel will fit. I am in the US however. Check with a local jeweler first and see if he can get you one. They shouldn't be hard to get.

where is your extra date wheel from ? :Jumpy:

Ah, would that be you by any chance? Thanks for the wheels Sam.....however, haven't had time to mod that Seamaster yet. Plan on swapping the hands with the gens, change the pearl and maybe get some AR coating on the crystal.
