Seamaster Gmt

Got my new Seamaster in record time from Trusty.

Package delivered at Malay post office friday 19/5 and today tuesday 23/5 it arrived at my doorstep!

Took some quick pictures of it now. Will post better pictures during this week. ( It's 11.28 PM local time and I have to get up at 05.30 as usual tomorrow...

26/05 - Bezel insert alligned and pics updated!

The pics:

53802-35804.jpg

53802-35805.jpg

These pictures doesn't do it justice!

The overall feeling of it is great.

Flaws I have found:

-SeaNaster deployant clasp

-misaligned bezel

-upper side of bezel triangle at 12 a bit on the fat side

-wave pattern should be 1/4 wave to the right

-short minute hand

Edit: More flaws:

-Datewheel is white with black numbers and not black with white numbers. The most obvious flaw of them all! GAH!! :(

Other than that a really great looking watch, and much quieter than my eta pam111.

Now...

How to I get that bezel aligned?

How do I get the GMT hand actually pointing at gmt hours?

edit: new pictures

Beautiful watch. I added this link to my Omega guide because this is the first pictorial of this rep.

If you post more pictures and info please edit the original post and add it to this thread. Thanks. ;)

I don't want to rock the boat, but I'd be taking this up with Andrew. The watch shown in the pictures on his site (the same pictures he posted in the dealers section) clearly show this watch with a BLACK datewheel.

You've been sent a previous generation version of the watch (one that is available from another dealer I won't name for half the price of the latest generation!!). If you paid the price as shown on Trustytime or close to it then get onto Trusty about this before you even think about fiddling with the watch movement.

r11co is correct, I didn't even notice the flaws in your watch (rather sloppy from a "Omega expert", eh?) ;)

Anyway... if you ordered the watch based on the picture with black datewheel that's the watch you should receive. I think the minute hand in your watch is shorter too.

Your watch is definitely the previous generation GMT. Still a beautiful watch though.

Strange...

I'm communicating the problems to Trusty, referring to this thread.

It has got the correct bezel though. Didn't think the prev gen had that?

But then again, the white date wheel and SeaNaster clasp...

When I found it on his site I thought: "WOW! Finally correct bezel , date window AND date wheel.

When I recieved it, I got blinded and didn't see the date wheel error before I browsed some originals.

All depends. I would see many GMT reps with countless flaws that you mentioned above, as well as, the incorrect bezel and date wheel.

However, rc11o is correct - look at the pic that he posted from Trusty's site. Just explain to Andrew that he sent the wrong watch. Andrew is great guy.

I have come to an agreement with Andrew. It does not include a black date wheel as the factories apparently have stoped making the GMT with black datewheel because of some sort of problem.

So... I need a black datewheel that will fit my current GMT.

Any ideas on where to get it and price?

This thread is also about a similar date wheel: http://www.rwg.cc/members/index.php?showto...208entry54208

Space - I have an extra black datewheel that fits a 2824 movement. From what I heard from others on the board, the datewheel will fit. I am in the US however. Check with a local jeweler first and see if he can get you one. They shouldn't be hard to get.

Josh has the blue version - with all of the hands (hour, minute, second & GMT) the correct lenght. Only issue is the bezel insert (look at the number "8" in 18 - not correct).

Sean from ETASWISS and all of the colors - black, blue and white with the correct hands lenghts as well, but with the incorrect bezel insert. If you're happy with the insert, no issue then. Or, go on eBAY and source the all silver bezel insert with black numerals. Then you've got one hell of a rep.

Additional info:

I wore the watch the entire day yesterday.

When I woke up this morning, I looked at my watch and it showed 07.30

I was tired but I got out of bed turning the tv on, watching discovery chanel.

Then my girlfriend comes out of the bedroom too, and I go "you're up early too?" She looks at me and goes "Early? It's half past one!"

So much for the power reserve...

I guess I have to turn around a lot more in my sleep, to keep it ticking...

  • 2 weeks later...

I believe the photo you referenced is cwai's and it is a genuine rubber strap.

The rubber strap that Andrew provided when I bought my 4th gen PO from came with these weird spacer pins sticking out from the middle of the strap ends. Apparently they are supposed to fit into holes drilled into the side of the watch case. My PO did not have these holes and the strap fit terribly with these spacer pins pushing against hte sides of the watch case. I ended up selling the PO to a friend who prefers steel strap. I've talked to a few dealers regarding why there isn't a 4th gen PO with properly fitting rubber strap yet and the answers have been vague and noncommittal.

I bet your GMT doesn't have these holes drilled into the sides of the case either, so beware.
