A fun project which lasted almost 3 months long waiting for a 24hour wheel for the 1128 and other bits and pieces. Altogether i've already listed the amount of money i've spend on this but the time has been worth it as i'm able to wear this now. Lets get to the actual procedure. 1. Started with an Omega GMT case with white dial but wrong bezel (it was with the half black half white one) 2. Purchased a Omega 1128, running well. 3. Had Genuine Omega Sword hands; hr, minute, second for the 2254 version. 4. Ordered the GMT hand 5. Ordered Bezel insert from Silix. 6. Purchased watch crystal Firstly, please don't do what i did and work with a movement without being held in a movement holder. My 2 holders were in use and this movement was already in its movement spacer so it wasn't as bad. Please note. After everything was recieved and in order i started to built it. Firstly, Started with fixing the dial on the movement, the replica dial does not align with the movement well, so i had to cut off the feet and re-arrange. The hands were painted black to look more like the genuine. Now, i've slowly placed the hands on, making sure that I put it on at 12 o'clock midnight. So all 4 hands must all line up at 12. The picture shows it at 10:08 for visibility purposes. The crystal that came with the rep was domed and with no anti-reflective coating and i found it very annoying and the dial looks like its been magnified slighty. So I bought a standard flat crystal and installed it on, no problems with glare and that "distorted" look when view at certain angles now. The original crown and crown tube with replaced with my old SMP crown and crown tube, also the crown guards were worked a little. Then the whole case was brushed along with the bracelet, the genuine version is full brushed FYI. The movement is then placed into the case and held down by clamps. The seal is then greased. The watch is now screwed shut and adjusted to see if its working well. Advice: For the guys who want this model, I've seen this model from Paul and its not bad. ETA 2836 with modified GMT function 24 hour hand. The two things i would recommend to be done with that one straight out of the box is: 1. Replace the crystal with a flat crystal as its much better looking. Cost - $10USD 2. Brush the whole case and bracelet with fine sandpaper. Cost - $3USD Cost: $210 + $60 + $90 + $30 + $5 + $13= $408AUD roughly. Another shot of it with the bracelet attached. I'd be interested to know how much you would have spent on this in total. I think a 2nd hand genuine (good condition) would set you back around US$1100-1200 nowadays. But here's a picture of it so far. But i've put in genuine Omega hands. The hour, minute and second have been painted black to match the Genuine GMT white hands. The Lum has been made less green to match the look of the Genuine. Also, Genuine Omega 1128 movement is used so now it has a true GMT function. I'm still waiting for one more part in the 1128 and bezel insert from Silix. Will post final pictures when its done. thanks for viewing Absolutely beautiful!
