But I just feel that this watch is definitely worth mentioning again and I will like to provide you my version... Being a fan for IWC and Panerai, Omega has never crossed my mind and I never thought I will take a second look at it till I saw Bytor's review. At that moment, I have no idea how a gen SMP chrono look like but after seeing it at the AD and then compared with Bytor's pics. Damn... this one is a super spot on. It was a must have for me. The gen runs on an Omega M64 self-winding date chrono caliber (aka ETA 7750). It comes with a satin finished one-sided turnable blue stainless steel divers bezel, stainless steel bracelet polished / satin finished, stainless steel safety folding clasp with extension, blue dial with wave design, luminous indices with sapphire crystal (Non-AR to what I understand) and It has a 44 hours power reserve. There is a helium valve at 10 o'clock position and it is water resistant up to 300m. Case diameter is 41.5mm and height is 16.4mm The rep factory actually made 2 versions for this super rep. Case diameter is 42mm and height is 17mm. So it is not too far off and not noticeable as compared with the gen. I was confused about the correct colour on the tip of the hands at first. The Bond-Seamaster is also very good, but the wave pattern on the dial is for some reason better replicated on the chrono. Personally, the helium-valve position issue have I never understood. Nice review! I am now fixing all the issues on my rep Chrono SMP. I received yesterday my genuine hands and the sub dial hands, the color is VERY different to the replica. The Gen hands are far more 'red'. I also received the entire bezel assembly, which again is different. The numbers on the genuine bezel are smaller, and the pearl is larger and higher in the triangle. I also have a genuine bracelet and eta 7750 in the mail along with a genuine dial! I believe you have to replace the case tube. Somebody like The Zigmeister will be able to confirm this. As a note...a trick I learned from the The Zigmeister-meister that works great on any piece with a screw-down crown is, instead of just pushing the crown in and screwing away...FIRST, push it in and turn it slowly, COUNTER-clockwise (as in unscrewing it) until you feel/hear a "click". Only after you feel/hear the "click" do you push the crown in and start screwing the crown in clockwise. You will find at this point, that the crown screws in right away. The click happens when the start points for the threads on the crown and tube are lined up. Screwing the crown in only when the threads are lined up properly like this will prevent the stripping. (I used a hairdrier on my old SMP for the same effect.) I agree with you on that score. Geordie land is the coldest place on earth, even Nanuq would be at home there.
