The Best 9?

After a nice evening spent with the ristis over the weekend, my 9 had all of them drolling. I can now say that my 9 passed the local risti test and may even be the best 9 rep out there!

The ingredients to achiving perfection:

Davidsan PVD Case, CG,

-Crown all were cape coded. (Took 2 hours)

Dial: An old rep 112 dial with a few modifications

-Tappered "A"

-Flat lumed too thicken the markers slightly

The single Hot Shot!

A shot taken next to a Titanium 176 to show the PVD comparison!

Thanks Is there any thing else I can do to perfect it further?

So, give us the details! How are you fixing the "A"s?

The same way The Zigmeister turn the L's into T's. It sure leave a mark but you can only see that with a magnifying glass.

that's the best test right?why else buy reps?might as well buy unbranded stuff, and not try to pass anything off as genuine when it's not, right?personally,i prefer the unbranded or homage pieces.

The best test is right here

Buy reps because you want more than one watch and want your money to go further ...or if you are like me you enjoy the "hobby" of searching and finding the ways to improve your watch closer to the gen. This is not to fool anybody - just for the enjoyment of trying to reach the end goal.

I could have bought 3 or 4 gens with the money I have in put into my collection ....but where is the "fun" in that?

I am not hung up on "status" , I have come across many people who believe a rep would degrade them in the eyes of their peers if ever caught out.

How sad ..." the watch maketh not the man"

Homages are cool without doubt ...but there's not a lot to aim for IMHO - as far as continual improvements and the fun of the hobby

Each to their own

This man speaks the truth!

Believe me, no one knows more about what the flaws are and how to spot them than the guys on the rep forums. The "Risti test" pales in comparison. Need I direct your attention to a post not that long ago featuring a BONE STOCK 026 from Davidsen that it took them hours to recognize as not gen?

Now you know the truth about reps. Most gen owners know very little about them and could care even less. On a reasonably good rep the only folks who are going to notice are other rep collectors and folks who have been ripped off by a rep seller. And most likely even if you did come upon a collector of both reps and gens he is unlikely to bring it up as he knows it will upset other gen collectors - especially as relates to PAM's and Rollies as the reps are reasonably prevalent and fairly good. Frankly, The only real tests are floating your watches in front of PAM rep collectors and the Panerai service centers - if you have real cahones.

I would not suggest doing that again - and not because I am worried about the rep industry being outed but because it can get pretty nasty for you.
