If all GMTIIC owners will post your experience & comments, we might be able to get a better idea of the true failure rate of these new 'Super' reps.

It might also be helpful if you can add a comment indicating (as close as possible) the date you received your GMTIIC.

My chs GMTIIC arrived on June 6.

____________

UPDATE - I just updated the poll to separate the chs from ihs movements, so we can track differences based on hand stack layout (chs = Correct Hand Stack, ihs = Incorrect Hand Stack). Sorry for the initial confusion.

Thanks for this thread Freddy - great idea!!

Got mine a week ago from Angus. Everything seems fine, keeps good time, water resistant, crystal straight. Beautiful watch.

The only problem is that the date does not click over perfectly. About every 2 days it is crooked in the date window and I have to manually adjust.

I never had this problem with any other watch, don't know how I feel about it in the long run..

Is there an easy fix besides sending it back?

Addition after reading the thread about the crooked crystal:

I went over the watch with a loupe and the crystal was indeed a little lopsided, I did not notice that before and had no water problems.

I had it corrected, but this should not come like this on a new watch.

QC??? <_<

Thanks for your input.

The date may be hanging up because the date wheel is coming into contact with the underside of the dial. Or the date change components may be gummed up (need cleaning, like the rest of the movement). At this point, you might try manually running the date wheel through 1 complete revolution of all 31 dates. Do it slowly & see if the clearance between the date wheel and dial window varies as the wheel turns. Also see if the dates that hang correlate to any variations you can see in spacing.

Hey, freddy, something is wrong with the poll....after I picked Asian IHS, it forces me to respond to the CHS status, too!

I do not see anything wrong with the poll settings. You may have been voting while I was redoing the poll. Try clearing your browser's cache (hold down the left Shift key while clicking the Reload button) & see if you can vote again. If not, you may have to leave it as is unless 1 of the Mods are able to manually edit the text file that contains the poll results (regular members do not have access to the config files).

Great idea Freddy.

I finaly ordered one...i'm really looking forward for that watch to land here so I can dive in a glass of water with it.

I hope this thread will "merge" all other ones.

I've read so many comments that I can't make up my mind anymore, reason why I ordered one.

Is there a model with CHS with Asian? Indeed, I am ordering one too with Asian movement but I am pretty sure it's gonna be just a generic IHS movement (which according to many is a better movement than the CHS version).

Is it a better movement in the IHS or a more problematic mod kit in the CHS ???

I voted earlier but it made me vote for an IHS as well.

Mine's running great. +12 seconds in the last week.

At the beginning of June Joshua told me he had sold 150 of the CHS watches. We can assume that number is, what, 250? 300? by now?

It will be difficult to determine with any degree of accuracy how reliable the movements are. Nevertheless, based on these informal and preliminary poll results, I feel fortunate to have one that is running great (so far). It really is a stunning replica.

Yes, the polling makes you vote for both IHS and CHS.

Have an asian IHS and a swiss IHS. Both keep good time, but the gmt hands completely stopped working, and take on water like the titanic.

Did you check if u have the protruding crystal at 3?

Here's my info:

Rec. 7/1/08

Asian IHS/WHS!

Also REP the TITANIC! and it did!

Edited for an update: Now I could confirm that the water did not penetrate the movement......it still runs and on time with my Blackberry Curve! The only thing I noticed is

the GMT Hand STOPPED! This is not good!!!

I have no idea why some are being forced to select from both CHS & IHS sections, but I just added a Null option to each section. Click the Null in the section that does NOT relate to your watch if you are forced to make a 2nd selection.

All Null votes will be ignored.

Great idea Freddy. Might be helpful to separate the ICH results into Asian and Swiss in the results section.

You are probably right, but there is no way to change the existing format without corrupting the existing results. At least not without having write access to the text files that store the results data, which only the Admin & Mods have access to.

Dealer: Pure time

Type: Asian IHS (Incorrect Hand Stack)

Receive in my hand 2 July, bought on 19 June.

1- When I receive it, the watch was stop on 11:25am (GMT hand at 11-12), I shaked it (rotor winding) nothing, I pull the cronw on first click and push it back right away, it start running.

2- The crystal is "little" higher at 12 than at 6 by about 0.5mm (instead of most people the crystal is more raise at 3 and recessed at 9)

3- (EDITED more details) After full charge (manual wind, at least 50 slow turn) I left it in a box, DU (dial up) position durring the night. The watch stop this morning 11:25am (GMT hand at 11-12), little shake, it start again.

4- The bezel don't make a clear "click" sound, but more a soft click, is it like that on gen? (after reading, yes it's normal)

5- No water testing yet

Either the movement is in need of an overhaul (like most surplus/used rep movements) or the mainspring has not been fully charged. Try manually winding the crown 40 turns & then see if it keeps running while you are wearing it.

Whenever you receive a new (to you) watch, you should always manually wind it 40 turns to charge the mainspring. Unless you are VERY active, normal wear may not do the trick & the watch will stop.

Yes.

I did this just after seeing the watch running correctly after a few rotor swirl (I'll update my post with this details), so FULL charge, and I leave it DU (Dial up) for the night (so I don't wear it)... this am the watch stopped at 11:25am, and start running after a few shake.

Today I wear it all day long, we will see if tomorrow it will stop again.

Guest carlsbadrolex

Freddy, I wanted to thank you for taking the point on this... Its a great poll, and rather informative. I think that we need to continue to update the thread if/when these movements that are running fine should tank.

Mine still running perfectly!
