Hi guys,

I just brought a 1655 Explorer II orange hand from a member here and intend to mod it somewhat, but as i have little knowledge of this rep model i would like to ask if you have can you show what you've got. Also if you can give a little advice on what you did would be much appreciated.

many thanks!

P.

Firstly does yours have lug holes? I know some of the newer reps don't have them and as far as I know they should.

Secondly on mine them minute markers should touch the edge, mine don't and it would need a very good lume job to get them to touch it and still be square.

I am happy with the crystal on mine, but some days I wish the orange hand was a bit more Orange.

If you really want to get it perfect I think a movement and hand swap might be required, I might be wrong but I think the orange hand should be over the hour hand CHS style.

Best of luck with the mods

Here is mine.

Gen 1575 GMT movement, fully serviced

Gen refinished dial

Gen crown & tube

Gen crystal

1:1 case (detectable by only RSC), the "too expensive" case.

Riveted bracelet

I might post it for a sale as i want to reduce my collection.

The dial is refinished by a veteran, who's been doing this for gen rolex for more than a few decades. Naturally, he's got all the correct fonts and the whole setup. The print is sharp. I was able to find a badly beatup gen dial for a good price and found the guy to do the job.

When the movement was serviced, i asked my watchmaker to give a good polish to round the edges a bit to give more realistic look to the case. After daily use, it's acquired scruff marks and the whole thing looks just perfect and undoubtful.
