Hi Alan,

In your tool kit there is a crab claw case opener. How do you use it?

I have an old Russian Raketa. Would I be able to open it with the claw?

Spin the wheel on top of the crab claw and adjust the "teeth" on it to fit into two of those slots(6)
You then use the crab claw as a key to turn the case back. In this particular case, that looks like it may be a ring, holding the case back, but the same principle applies.
There are various styles of crab claw; you will need to ensure that the "teeth" on the tool fit into those slots, or you may need a different version with smaller "teeth".
If it won't fit, there are some points on the multi point tool supplied in the tool kit, which I think will fit into those slots.
Adjust it to fit, put the watch case in the desk mount case clamp, and use both hands on the multi point.
Almost sure to work.

If all else fails I use needle nose pliers and CAREFULLY hold the points in the slots as I unscrew the back. Otherwise the pliers jump out and mar the heck out of your caseback.

Thank you both.

I did get it open first go this morning using the crab claw. I was trying to spin the whole case last night and thought it might be stubborn being an old watch. Turns out (pun intended) there is a ring I had to turn which then allows me to pry open the caseback from the 6 slot. Easy once you know how. :fool:

Pretty cool watch for all of $20 or so. Needs some cleaning up. I like the way it catches the light on the face.
